You caught me! I am a resource fanatic and I maybe have a slight love for organisation.
When I was a full-time classroom teacher, I loved making my classroom look attractive and organised. One year I even painted a whale on the wall by hand! I wonder if it is still there.

I really enjoy making resources and if I look back, I have always tried to make learning fun. In the children’s spare time they would help themselves to the game section in my class. So I needed to figure out ways to make it easy for them to know what to take and to know where to put it back. I invested in puzzle boxes, amazing! The blue puzzle boxes are English resources, the red puzzle boxes are Mathematics resources and the green are Life Skills resources. I even use these colours for actual puzzles where a certain colour would show how many pieces the puzzle is made up of.
I bought white containers for crafty items and made a mini drawer for my alphabet pictures and words to go into. The bottom see-through containers are excellent for holding carry folders. Each carry folder is organised into concepts. I keep most of my enrichment class resources in there so that when I need it, I just take out the carry folder and bring it with me to class.
I try label as many items as I can. I type them out myself, laminate them and cut it. I then stick it onto the items with double sided tape. Tada!
During all the years of teaching, I had collected and made so many resources. I had to move EVERYTHING home in 2020! I had to make the decision to turn our spare room into a mini classroom. So the picture is what my mini classroom at home looks like.
Okay fine, I will tell you. More items are in the spare room cupboards. YES I HAVE TOO MUCH TEACHING THINGS. So my point is, organisation is key. If I wasn’t organised, imagine finding what I need!
Do you use labels to organise your house? What do you put labels on?
